THE GROWN VISION

We are proud to help give the Gift of Sight through our giving partners. It is an honour to be able to support the organizations on their selfless journeys through the GROWN Vision™.

How We Help Give the Gift of Sight

Through our giving partners, and with your support, GROWN helps by directly funding sight-loss prevention and sight-restoration programs in a growing number of countries and regions. Specifically, we assist these efforts in 2 ways:.

1. Treatment:

By funding Sight-restoring eye surgery for those in need. One of the leading causes of global blindness are cataracts, which can typically be corrected through a short procedure.

2. Prevention:

Funding of diagnostic eye examinations for school-aged children to enable early detection of sight threatening conditions. This is an essential step towards breaking the cycle.

Why Sight?

Approximately 285 million people are visually impaired globally
Prevention is an essential measure to combat global visual impairment
80% of all visual impairment is avoidable, preventable or curable
Most treatments are immediate
Two-thirds of people who are blind are women or girls
Vision is an important and essential part of maintaining ones independence
Regaining sight transforms the lives of individuals, families and communities

About Our Giving Partners

Seva (pronounced say-va) is a Sanskrit word for service. Seva® Canada is an international eye care charity founded in 1982 to restore sight and prevent blindness in the developing world. Seva’s vision is a world in which no one is needlessly blind or visually impaired and where those with unavoidable vision loss can achieve their full potential. Seva believes in equal access to eye care for all. Seva’s programs are culturally sensitive and directed to those most in need – women, children and people living in extreme poverty. To date, Seva’s partner programs have restored eye sight to more than 3 million people. Currently Seva Canada works in 9 of the poorest places in the world: Nepal, Tibet, India, Tanzania, Malawi, Madagascar, Cambodia, Guatemala and Egypt.

"With every 4 pairs purchased, a total of 50 people are directly helped. This massive potential is what makes being socially responsible so meaningful to us and to the GROWN Vision"
